Nancy Zieman recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Nancy began sewing at the age of 10 as a Winnebago County 4-H member and has been sewing ever since. She is an author, designer, businesswoman, producer, blogger, and national sewing authority, and host of the popular show Sewing with Nancy. Nancy is a mentor for thousands of youth and adults who have witnessed her love of sewing through TV, books, sewing articles, the popular Quilt Expo, and catalogs.

Gale VandeBerg

Gale VandeBerg recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Gale first experienced Extension as a 4-H member in Clark County. He studied at UW-Madison, and then taught high school for two years before taking an assistant county agent position in Outagamie County. This led him to working with 4-H youth. In 1960 he was appointed as assistant director of Cooperative Extension. He served on the committee to plan for the Extension merger in 1965. After the UW System merger in 1973, he became assistant chancellor and director of Cooperative Extension. Gale was often the first one in a position as his career was during a years of growth, prosperity, and innovation.

Ransom Asa Moore

Ransom Asa Moore recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Known as the “Father of Wisconsin 4-H,” Ransom grew up near Kewaunee. He worked with teachers to grow and make things to exhibit at the fair known as “Young People’s Contest Clubs” which had exhibits from every county school. Moore was in contact with the president of the University of Wisconsin, recommending students to the University. Shortly, Moore was recruited to oversee the school’s short course program.

Gerry Gast recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Wisconsin 4-H is proud to be represented by Gerry Gast in the 4-H Hall of Fame. Gerry started his career in Wisconsin as a County 4-H Youth Agent in Green Lake and then Kenosha County from 1962-1979. Professional development and the advancement of the youth development profession was a lifelong passion for Gerry. Gerry has a passion for providing quality resources and services to youth and those in need. Gerry knows we all play a role in helping make the world a better place.

Linda Kustka

Linda Kustka recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Linda’s career started as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica and turned into one as an Extension Educator in 4-H Youth Development. Serving as a Brown County 4-H agent, she implemented summer programs for low-income youth, supported 45 community 4-H clubs and expanded the number of Brown County adult and youth volunteers serving in county leadership roles.

Wakelin “Ranger Mac” McNeel recognized in Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Hall of Fame

Wisconsin 4-H is proud to be represented by Wakelin McNeel in the 4-H Hall of Fame. Spending his childhood outside of Wisconsin Dells canoeing, fishing, hunting, and camping, it is no surprise Ranger Mac’s career led him to conservation education. He got his start in K-12 education before beginning his Extension career in Marathon County. After retirement, Ranger Mac dedicated himself to the development of Upham Woods, where there is a cabin in this name.
