Activity: 100 acts of kindness

Group: Forest Hills 4-H Club — Fond du Lac County

Date of Activity: 2014 4-H year

Number of people: 30 youth; 8 adults

Number of hours: 1 hour per person

The members of the Forest Hills 4-H Club decided to accomplish 100 acts of kindness during the Centennial year of 4-H in Wisconsin. These acts range from helping someone pick up their school supplies in the hallway, to collecting money for charity. Here are some of the deeds the members of Forest Hills 4-H Club have done so far: Bell ringing at the Forest Mall; giving blood; being a server for the Mass of a funeral; working at a soup dinner; and raking leaves at a relative’s home. The impact of those helped was that they were receiving a kind deed. The kind deeds given, are the members trying to make an impact in our community through random acts of kindness.

The youth are learning that even the smallest acts can make a difference in our world, even just one smile at a time.

Activity: Roadside clean-up

Group: Forest Hills 4-H Club — Fond du Lac County

Date of Activity: April 8, 2014

Number of people: 24 youth; 6 adults

Number of hours: 1 hour per person

Members of the Forest Hills 4-H club walked on the sides of the roads in Dotyville and picked up trash left along the sides of the road. After the members finish picking up the trash along the sides of the road, they recycled the recyclable items, and threw the garbage in the dumpster.  The roads and ditches of Dotyville were left cleaner, and less polluted.

The youth engaged in this project learned how important it is to keep our roads and towns clean. The Forest Hills 4-H Club does this service each year.

Some of the members of the Forest Hills 4-H Club went to the Sears Entrance at the Forest Mall to ring bells for the Salvation Army. The members rang bells for 2 hours to help the Salvation Army. The money raised during the time the members rang bells went to the Salvation Army. The youth learned to take time to help those in need, especially during the Christmas season.
