Activity: Distributing Easter animals in assisted living communities
Group: Merrill Busy Bees — Lincoln County
Date of Activity: April 12, 2014
Number of people: 40 youth; 8 adults
Number of hours: 2 hours per person
Our 4-H group visited Pine Crest Nursing Home & Woodland Court Assisted Living and gave each resident a stuffed Easter animal. We also had either a duck or bunny made out of plastic spoons that were wall hangings for each one of them. We had 200 stuffed animals and wall hangings to give out. People enjoyed seeing the 4-H’ers and were very happy to receive the small gifts.
The little things we did for the residents really made them happy. The 4-H’ers made a point to tell everyone Happy Easter when they gave out the small gifts.
Activity: Collecting pop tabs to donate to Ronald McDonald House
Group: Merrill Busy Bees — Lincoln County
Date of Activity: April 7, 2014
Number of people: 43 youth; 20 adults
Number of hours: 2 hours per person
During the year our 4-H group saves pop top tabs. We donate these to the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield. With the money they get for the pop top tabs families can stay and eat at the Ronald McDonald House for free while their loved ones are in the hospital.
This project seems very small to the member at first but, it has a large impact on families. All the members are proud they can help in a small way.
