We provided eye glasses and hygiene products to a third world country. People who were without glasses now have some and can see thing a lot better.  The toothbrushes and toothpaste will help these people with better oral hygiene.

The youth who participated learned that there are many people around the world who do not have the same resources and advantages that we do, and that service projects like this help build a better world.

This was a competition put on by the Merrill Park & Rec. Department that our 4-h group participated in.  We did a sculpture of our 4-H Busy Bee mascot. People driving by the park could enjoy the colorful snow sculpture.  A picture of our sculpture was on the front page of our local newspaper plus people on Facebook commented on how nice the “Bee” looked as they drove by the park.

The youth learned to  take their time as they worked with the frozen snow. They could only chip away a little snow at a time.  They also learned to dress warm for this outdoors activity.

Number of people: 39 youth; 12 adults

Number of hours: 1 hour per person

We gave home made Christmas cards to home bound  and assisted living individuals at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Meals on Wheels, Woodland Court Assisted Living and Good Samaritan Hospital.  We made 250 cards so we also gave some to our local hospital. This helped brighten peoples Christmas to know someone who does not even know them cares about them.

The youth learned that small things we do in life can make people so happy because someone remembered them.
