We decorated a Christmas tree for the O’Tannenbaum Tour Committee. All of our 4-H’ers bring an ornament to decorate the tree. The O’Tannenbaum Tour Committee donated all the funds back to Lincoln County programs. Some of the programs they have helped are D.A.R.E., Meals on Wheels, Normal Park, Respite, Our Way, Lincoln County 4-H endowment fund, 4-H groups and St. Vincent De Paul, to name a few.
The group had to pick a theme for their tree. Then they have to get ornaments ,a tree top and a tree skirt to go with the theme, The group know to take time to decorate the tree because over 900 people come to this event.
Activity: Painting a barn quilt for the Lincoln County Fair grounds
Group: Merrill Busy Bees — Lincoln County
Date of Activity: July 17, 2013
Number of people: 1 youth; 3 adults
Number of hours: 25 hours
We are trying to make the barn on the fair grounds more eye appealing. Our group has to get the plywood and paint to finish this project. This decorated one wing of the barn that is on the fairgrounds. Having the barn quilts has really added a nice touch to the barn and the fairgrounds.
Planning is very important in this project. You need an idea and then time to paint it. You can not wait till the last minute to get this done.
Activity: Merrill June Dairy Breakfast
Group: Merrill Busy Bees — Lincoln County
Date of Activity: June 9, 2013
Number of people: 12 youth; 9 adults
Number of hours: 6 1/2 hours per person
We gave away samples of cheese and a new milk drink called Yo-Jo at the June Dairy Breakfast hosted by the Dairy Council of Lincoln County and FFA. The cheese was donated by Bletso’s Cheese Company and the Yo-Jo milk was donated by Kemps. There were over 1,000 people who came to the June Dairy Breakfast. People sampled a new cheese that Bletso’s Cheese Company was introducing. The Yo-Jo drink was something people wanted to try and see if they liked it. This way they could then buy it at Dave’s County Market.
The youth learned to smile at people they did not know and also ask them if they would like a sample. This event gave our 4-H’ers a chance to interact with the public.
