On August 27, the 165th Walworth County Fair kicked off with a ceremony recognizing the Wisconsin 4-H Centennial. Thank you to all the local and state officials who attended, including the Walworth County Fair Board, Walworth County Board members, Wisconsin state legislators and even Governor Walker!
The kick-off celebration included many heartfelt speeches, a parade of Walworth County 4-H volunteers, members and alumni and individual recognition of each current and past 4-H club in the county. And of course, 4-H birthday cake!
At the end of the celebration, a new historical marker was dedicated to the Linn 4-H Club, the first official 4-H group in Wisconsin. It matches an historical marker already placed near Lake Geneva in 1970, and will be a permanent addition to the Walworth County Fairgrounds.
It was a truly wonderful event, thank you to everyone who planned, participated and made it such a success!
