Service projects from the County Line 4-H Club in Iowa County

Activity: Making Easter baskets at the Mineral Point Care Center

Group: County Line 4-H Club — Iowa County

Date of Activity: April 7, 2014

Number of people: 15 youth; 1 adult

Hours: 1 hour per person

We made Easter baskets for residents. The residents and staff of the Mineral Point Care Center loved the fact that our club thought of them and made these special items for them. Our members learned that making crafts for someone else is fun and rewarding (but that it’s hard not to eat the candy treats themselves!)

Activity: Making fleece blankets for American Family Children’s Hospital

Group: County Line 4-H Club — Iowa County

Date of Activity: April 7, 2014

Number of people: 15+ youth; 10 adults

Hours: 1.5 hours per person

The members and adults cut and tied 12 fleece blankets to donate to the American Family Children’s Hospital. Children who are patients at the hospital will receive a special blanket made just for them. Our members learned that making things for others gives them something to feel good about.

Activity: Games with Mineral Point Care Center residents

Group: County Line 4-H Club — Iowa County

Date of Activity: April 6, 2014

Number of people: 5 youth; 2 adults

Hours: 1 hour per person

We played BINGO with residents at the Mineral Point Care Center, and donated fun prizes. They loved having young people there to play. Our members learned about helping people who live in nursing homes.

Activity: Food drive for the Iowa County Food Pantry

Group: County Line 4-H Club — Iowa County

Date of Activity: April 5, 2014

Number of people: 4 youth; 2 adults

Hours: 2 hours per person

All the clubs in the county were challenged to bring food to the Food Pantry. Over 500 pounds of food was collected. Our donations will help feed many families, and helped our members think about sharing what they have and how to help others.
