With the assistance from 4-H staff, two adult 4-H leaders planned and organized a day-long event called “Cloverbud Day” for Iowa County 4-H Cloverbuds. The event included; games, crafts, healthy snacks, and a guest speaker which was a ventriloquist.
The Cloverbuds that attended learned to follow directions, work with others, learned new skills and abilities through crafts, learned about healthy choices, and were mesmerized by the ventriloquist and her performance. The Iowa County 4-H Ambassadors learned how to relate to young children, and also learned what it was like to be relied upon to lead small groups of children through rotations of activities and crafts. One young man who is an Ambassador was asked to help one of the Cloverbuds who was having a hard time transitioning into the day. They Cloverbud was crying and felt scared to be at Cloverbud Day Camp and the Ambassador helped him to quickly feel comfortable, forget about his worries, and made the Cloverbud look forward to what was in store for him for the rest of the day.

Activity: June Dairy Breakfast
Group: Iowa County 4-H Ambassadors
Date of Activity: June 1, 2013
Number of hours: 6 hours
The Iowa County 4-H Ambassadors assisted during the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast by helping to hand out cheese and assisting with activities for young children that attended the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast. The young children enjoyed the interactive game that the Ambassadors provided at the Dairy Breakfast. After the children answered a question about agriculture they received a goodie bag and balloon. The Ambassadors also brought kittens and other small animals for youth to see and pet.
The 4-H youth learned about different aspects of agriculture and had first-hand experience by visiting a local Iowa County dairy goat farm. The Iowa County 4-H Ambassadors gained skills in organization, learned to relate to young children, and to think on their feet when an event did not go as they had planned or intended.
