Group: Clyde Go Getter 4-H Club — Iowa County
Date of Activity: April 5, 2014
Number of people: 9 youth; 3 adults
Number of hours: 20 hours
4-H members help some of the Greenway Terrace residents with making tissue box covers for the box of tissues that the residents have in their rooms. 18 tissue box covers were completed. The cost of materials donated was $ 14.00 for card stock papers and score tape.
The Greenway Terrace residents enjoyed having the 4-H youth show them how to fold and tape the tissue covers together. Residents got to choose the color and pattern of card stock paper that would look good in their room. They enjoyed visiting with the 4-H members while working together, and then when it was snack time they continued talking to each other.
4-H members learned that some of the residents needed more helped than others. They learned to have patience with the residents when they didn’t follow the directions and had to correct the mistakes to get the project together. Tissue box covers were made for all residents even if they were unable to come out to do the project with the 4-H youth. 4-H members helped serving the drinks and snacks to the residents. They also learned that the residents knew some of the 4-H members’ parents and their grandparents while visiting.

Date of Activity: November 2, 2013
Number of people: 10 youth; 4 adults
Number of hours: 23 hours
4-H youth help the Greenway Terrace Residents with making Thanksgiving door hanger decorations. 20 door hangers were created for the residents. Material donated for the door hangers included googley eyes, glue dots, card stock, tape and glue sticks. The cost of materials was $13.00.
The residents were happy to see young people who were willing to come and help them make a project. They got to pick out a pattern paper where they would glue a turkey on their door hanger. Most of the residents needed help from the 4-H members to glue the parts and eyes on their turkey. The residents were happy that they got to keep the door hangers for their room doors.
Our 4-H members learned that they could help older people with a activity project and that it was fun, too. Also, the residents were ask them questions about their 4-H experiences and sharing with the youth that some of the residents were in 4-H when they were younger. The residents were surprised to know that 4-H members can start in Kindergarten now. The 4-H members agree that they would like to do another activity with the residents again.
