The Campbellsport 4-H Club in Fond du Lac County volunteered for Camp Matawa, Fond du Lac Literacy Services, the Campbellsport Athletic Association and the Beyer family. Here’s their story:

“Our club sponsors a Milk Mustache Contest with local “celebrities” who choose local charities. The contestant who raises the most money gets the whole amount raised. The club also puts on an annual Ice Cream Social for the community which is the club’s fundraiser. Some of our profits are donated to other charities. We also do a “Bucket Fundraiser” and those proceeds were donated to a local family who lost their father to a car accident. These are all done together. The club members donate some of the food needed for the social. The rest is purchased with club funds. Jugs are displayed around the community where folks vote with their monetary donations.

The three charities/organizations are provided monetary funds that allow them to continue their work. The family was provided funds to help however needed.

  • $684.00 donated to Beyer family
  • $281.00  donated to Campbellsport Athletic Association
  • $100.00 donated to Camp Matawa
  • $100.00 donated to Fond du Lac Literary Services

The members take great pride in helping others each year. They learn about the many community services provided by volunteers. They learn life and work skills. The purpose of the Ice Cream Social/Milk Mustache Contest/Bucket Fundraiser is multiple:

  • Promote the dairy industry
  • Help local charities, organizations and families
  • Create community by offering opportunity for people to socialize
  • Teach members how to work together and gain job and life skills.

We do multiple service activities in conjunction with other organizations, too, but this is exclusively ours and it’s our largest service project.”
