Activity: Case Studies

Case studies help make concepts real by putting them into action in actual situations.  This activity will help illustrate how we want you to think as a Master Gardener Volunteer when you are approached to do a project with a landscape design element.

  1. Watch the first three case studies.  Pause the video when it says to and think about what you would do.  Press “play” again to finish the video and see what our featured educator and MGV have to say.
  2. Watch the fourth case study.  Write what you would do if you were the MGV approached with this project.  Things to address in your response:
-Any questions you would ask the client
    -Potential issues with the project
    -Appropriateness of the project
    -Next steps you would take
-Additional opportunities for education or involvement
  3.  Responses can be in whatever form you like (paragraph, list, etc.).
  4. Email your response to Amy (akfreidig@wisc.edu) with a subject of “Case Study Response”.  We will offer comments on them and return them to you via email (please be aware there will be a lag time on this!).  Included will be a link to see what our educator and MGV thought about this project!
