You can now add links on your posts or pages that will allow readers to share your content via the “Share a Link” feature of various social media sites like Facebook or Twitter. You can also add links that will allow readers to view a PDF version of the post/page, print the post/page, or email it.
Note: Simply Social sharing icons will not appear on mobile device screens.
Activating the Simply Social Plugin
To begin, you must first activate the Simply Social plugin. For more information on how to activate a plugin, see our help article: Activating and Deactivating WordPress Plugins.
Note: This plugin is not available for Coop Connection sites.
Now, in the Dashboard, under SETTINGS, you should see a link to Simply Social (you may need to refresh your browser).
Click the Simply Social link under Settings to open the Simply Social options page. There you’ll see a list of social media sites. Check the sites you want to feature. By default, the following will be checked: Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Digg, Delicious, Stumble Upon, and Email.
Scroll down on the options page and you’ll see some additional Sociable options to choose from, most notably are the settings for Tagline and size and alignment of icon. By default, the tagline (text displayed in front of the icons) will be “Sharing is Caring – Click Below to Share,” and the icons will be large. You may modify those settings as necessary. Note the Preview.
Be sure to SAVE your settings if you make any changes.
With the Simply Social plugin activated on your site, you will see the following checkbox on the right side of any Add/Edit Post or Add/Edit Page screen. You can check the “disable” box to turn off the social media sharing buttons for an individual post or page.
