Find Books

Find books on a topic by searching the campus catalog, WorldCat, or Google Books.

Request books for delivery to your county office by using our Remote Delivery Service.

IMPORTANT! During your next campus visit, please stop by the Wiscard office to obtain your photo ID (Union South, Room 149). Office hours are currently Monday-Friday (8:30 AM- 5:00 PM). Patron authentication for remote delivery services and Interlibrary Loan rely on Wiscard data. The Wiscard also functions as your “library card” for checking out materials from UW Madison and UW System libraries when onsite.

Search the Library Catalog to find materials in UW-Madison or UW System libraries.

  • Once you have found an item, click the Request a Copy button from the catalog record.
  • Sign in with your NetID/password.
  • Select Physical Item (or “Partial Digital Copy” if sufficient for your purposes)
  • Choose Remote Delivery as the Pickup Location and enter your shipping address.

Due dates can vary by lending library.

E-Book Collections: While e-book editions can be found for many books within the library catalog, or, as a format limit as applied to a search within the catalog, e-book collections can also be browsed (or searched) as a resource type selected from the Libraries’ database menu.

Please note that not every title identified within these specific collections will be available; very specific titles are selected and licensed for access.

Note: Campus staff can use the catalog’s “Request a Copy” link to have books delivered to a convenient campus library location. If visiting a campus library location for pick-up, present your Wiscard to check-out these items.

  • Tip: Steenbock Library has convenient parking in the parking garage (Lot 36) directly behind the library. Enter the parking garage from Observatory Drive. This is a gated lot that requires taking a ticket upon entry and paying upon exit (at pay-stations or gate).
